ABOUT NEMBE

As we stand here in the farm, we can’t help but think about the man who started the these projects. His name is Mabukute Moses "Nembe" Mhlaba, Born around 1865. We tried to get into his mind, trying to find his motivation for start farming apart from feeding his own family and the community.

Nembe Mhlaba started this farm way around 1913 after the Land Act that was passed by the Union of South Africa. The land was more than 100HA when he started, he gave some of the land to Hlanganani school Primary school for he supported Education and as he was growing older a huge portion of his land was converted into resident.

His main aim was to feed his people and also exporting, he believed in his heart that there was hungry people here in Croquetlawn and else where.

He planted sugar cane, Bananas, Pineapple, Chilies, etc.

We are trying to recreate his Legacy and hopefully pass on this legacy to many generations. This is not our legacy but his, not our work but his.
